Tell us about your PROGRAM
TGH is a large academic medical center on the West Coast of Florida, affiliated with the USF Morsani College of Medicine, and one of the busiest solid organ transplantation centers in the country. Our program is able to offer core rotations in antimicrobial stewardship, ID consult service, immunocompromised ID (Heme/Onc and SOT), and a longitudinal HIV/AIDS clinic experience.
What makes your program UNIQUE?
Our program is able to offer off-site elective rotations at nationally ranked institutions, Moffitt Cancer Center (BMT ID) and Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital (Peds ID).
What opportunities are there for RESEARCH and QUALITY IMPROVEMENT in your program?
Our PGY2 program and ID pharmacist team are highly focused on research and QI projects. At this year's MAD-ID, we are presenting 2 posters: "Early Use of Fidaxomicin vs. Vancomycin for C. difficile in Immunocompromised Patients" and "Utility of Extended Spectrum β-Lactamase (ESBL) Gene Identification for Moderate Risk Inducible AmpC Enterobacterales Infections".
What QUALITIES are you looking for in a successful trainee?
We look for residents who display a solid passion for Infectious Diseases and antimicrobial stewardship and a willingness to learn. We additionally recruit residents who have a strong foundation in multitasking and project/research management.
MAD-ID Training Program Highlight
This series highlights ID pharmacy training programs, including PGY2 ID residency and ID fellowship programs, that send trainees to the MAD-ID Annual Meeting. We provide an opportunity for program directors to give insights into their offerings that mean most to prospective trainees.
